Finally, room to breathe.
Psychotherapy for Individuals & Couples - Seattle, WA
Are you exhausted from holding everything together when you’re running on empty inside?
I’ve observed that revelation (or simply relief) doesn’t come from insight alone, but from the experience of being deeply met - especially in the places that we feel ugly, unbearable, or ‘not enough’. As a therapist, I hold silence and rage with equal reverence. I welcome grief and contradiction. I’ll focus on the emotion beneath your narrative, and the emotion beneath that emotion. I’ll ask you to make contact with your heart. In sessions, we’ll explore questions like ‘Why do I keep doing this’? and ‘Where are these feelings coming from?’. This isn’t introspection for its own sake; it’s often a path to understanding and addressing very tangible problems. Therapy should make space for the full, messy truth of being a person.
Services
Individual Therapy
I’ve been trained as an existential psychotherapist. The work I do with individual clients looks different for each person, shifting based on who you are, what you’re carrying, and what you hope to understand or change. I have experience working with adults processing childhood trauma, navigating complex relationships, and exploring issues relating to purpose and identity.
Couples Therapy
My work with couples blends Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. EFT helps partners reconnect by focusing on the attachment bond - creating more safety, responsiveness, and emotional closeness. The Gottman Method equips couples with practical, research-backed tools for communication and conflict resolution.
Hi, I’m Rachel
My belief that this world needs more safe containers that allow people to process pain, to show up unfiltered, and to explore all versions of themselves, was the reason I became a therapist. I was born and raised in rural Ireland. I’ve called Seattle home for the past 5 years, after living in London, Paris, San Francisco and British Columbia for periods of my life. My ‘career’ has had nine lives, and I’ve refused to be caged into one box. I’ve worked in tech for almost a decade. The decision to return to graduate school to study Psychology was the natural step that aligned with my lifelong interest in the mind and mental health.
Education & Training
Approach
I bring my own humanity to this work - my heart, and my hope. I show up as a real person in the room - not poker faced, but present and alive. My therapeutic approach is grounded in unconditional positive regard - not as a therapeutic strategy, but as a natural response to witnessing someone in their fullness - their resilience, their defenses, their humor. I find myself genuinely invested in the people I work with. Sincere care shows up naturally, because being trusted with someone’s inner world is something I hold as sacred. My training and clinical experience has instilled a rigorous curiosity about how my clients show up in the world, including the ways they avoid or resist contact with themselves and others. My work often involves helping individuals and couples figure out how they can show up in their lives and relationships as more themselves – more real, more vulnerable, more free.
